The end of Februrary in Austin always feels pretty special. First, it basically feels like summer. Second, SXSW is right around the corner, and the energy starts to hum with that beautiful mix of crazy and fun. Along with a few of my friends, we're going to show you how to do festival style right at any age! I'm going to start from the beginning--stay tuned for your 30s and 40s!
In your 20s
Festival style in your 20s means being as trendy and fun as possible while staying comfortable. When you head out in the afternoon and come home maybe before morning, your style has to be pretty functional. Transitional pieces that you can layer are key. Some "must haves" for the day are a solid pair of boots like Doc Martens and a backpack to carry a jean jacket or a flannel in for later.
Bohemian-inspired styles of the past few years are giving way to more urban looks that are sexier and edgier with some vintage-inspired accessories from the early 90s. Our model, Arden, is a 19 year old fashion student at the University of Texas. She loves pairing curve-hugging vintage solids in black and white with fun and unexpected accessories. Her cream top below is vintage Valentino from Garment Modern here in Austin and is paired with heart sunnies from Vans and an oversized fedora from Goorin Bros.
Arden then put on a vintage black leather halter with a corset back (her aunt was big into motorcycles in the 80s!) with a pair of high-waisted jeans and round sunglasses from Crap EyeWear.
